July 2020: Volunteers have spent weeks putting spine labels on thousands of books at Lower Bogue Public Library and Bluff Public Library.
It's important that a library have an organizational structure so people can locate and access materials they need. It also gives the librarian a chance to teach the library captains how to shelve books. "It's like a puzzle. Where do things belong? How does a library work? The librarians can grow the students' leadership capacities as well," said Susy Siel, Freedom to Read Inc. founder. The labels were donated by Follett School Solutions and link the books to their donated online Destiny catalogue. |
