OCTOBER, 2020 - Freedom to Read Inc. continues to work on getting the Green Castle Public Library ready for the public.
Contractor Wallace Sineus and his sons put a ceiling in the bathroom, installed five new windows, a brand new front door, and supports for the book shelves. Volunteer Chad Sinden sanded, painted, carried furniture, and shelved books. Volunteer and donor June Robbins did collection management and shelved books. Freedom to Read Inc. intended to open the Green Castle Public Library in 2020, but there was a COVID outbreak on the island. Eleuthera does not have a hospital, so a stringent lockdown was instituted which limited activity. Our new goal is to open this magical space in early 2021. |
