November 2019 - Volunteers kept busy at libraries in Eleuthera in the fall of 2019, with projects ongoing at several locations.
LOWER BOGUE PUBLIC LIBRARY Katie Kelly, the new library supervisor at Lower Bogue, is already making the library her own. She has deputized three students -- April, Don and Jonathan -- to be Library Captains. These students help shelve books and help younger readers choose books. Katie is also fully trained in the Follett Destiny online catalog system. |

GREEN CASTLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
Additionally, One Eleuthera Foundation generously provided Freedom to Read Inc. with a $9,000 grant for construction at Green Castle Public Library. Projects and Initiatives Manager Audrey Carey visited the site and assessed the progress of the work. And, Freedom to Read Inc. has teamed up with Kaitlin Lederer and Phoebe Hannah. These young women are teachers from Pennsylvania who now teach on Eleuthera and are founders of From Eleuthera with Love. After the hurricane, their organization raised more than $20,000 to help survivors. Through Freedom to Read Inc., they donated almost $1,600 to a hurricane survivor who had lost all of his tools in the disaster. He then built tables for Green Castle with new tools purchased thanks to their generosity. |
