The Story of James' Cistern Public Library
The process of re-establishing the James' Cistern Library started in 2014. The building had been a library off and on for decades before that. Freedom to Read Inc. partnered with local government officials and community leaders to reopen the library in October 2017.

The James' Cistern Library collection includes 2,742 books. There are about 50 active patrons.

The library attendant is Andrea Bethel, who has been devoted to the library for nearly ten years.
